EINDHOVEN, Netherlands, June 19 (Reuters) - Italy captain Paolo Maldini injured his left knee in Monday's 2-1 Euro 2000 Group B win over Sweden.
Maldini limped out of their final group B match after a heavy tackle on Celtic striker Henrik Larsson, but is hoping to be fit for the Quarter-finals.
'He took a knock on his knee. It doesn't appear too serious and he's probable for the next match,' Italy coach Dino Zoff said.
Italy also picked up injuries to Mark Iuliano, who would be best placed to replace Maldini at leftback, and midfielder Luigi di Biagio, scorer of Italy's first goal against Sweden. 'Iuliano has hurt his shoulder and Di Biagio has a muscular problem,' Zoff said.
Italy will meet whoever finishes second in Group A out of England, Germany and Romania in Brussels on Saturday. England are currently best placed to qualify for the match.
