A surprising calm surrounds the Belgium training camp despite the euphoria of Saturday's 2-1 victory over Sweden and the dreams of beating Italy tomorrow.
The initial stage fright has vanished, to be replaced by a confidence not evident before the tournament. 'The stress is gone. I think we will have a more open match now against Italy,' said coach Robert Waseige.
A video of the Azzurri's 2-1 win over Turkey was analysed yesterday, part of a full day's training ahead of tomorrow's key encounter in Brussels which will probably determine the Group B winner.
Sheffield Wednesday's Giles De Bilde was optimistic. 'The atmosphere in the team is very positive,' he said. 'This is the reason for our success and it's due to the coach.' But he added: 'Saturday's win wasn't the best. Italy will be tougher.'
