Dutch international Bert Konterman has revealed he wants to stay at Rangers for the remainder of his career.
The £4.5million central defender, who will arrive at Ibrox from Feyenoord after Euro 2000, will be 33 when his new four-year contract expires.
But Konterman, one of five close-season signings by Dick Advocaat, has indicated he could sign a further deal to complete his career here.
'At this moment, I think I will end my career with Rangers - either at 33 or maybe around 35 or 36,' he said. 'Maybe I will sign a follow-up Rangers contract for one or two years. I'll see how my body is.
'This was a very import ant summer for me because I felt it was my last to make a transfer. When I heard about Rangers' interest, I didn't have to think about it for too long.'
Konterman, who is joined in the Dutch squad at Euro 2000 by Rangers team-mates Arthur Numan and Giovanni van Bronckhorst, agreed his transfer without speaking to Advocaat or chairman David Murray.
But the former Real Madrid target never had any doubts that he was making the right move, saying: 'I have seen how Arthur and Giovanni have developed into better players under Dick.
'Dick is very straight and I like that. He's honest and knows what he wants. He is determined to take Rangers to a higher level and I hope I can contribute to that.'
Meanwhile, Rangers were dealt an injury blow yesterday when Finnish defender Tero Penttila was ruled out until next year with knee ligament damage.
'I will have my knee operated on next week and only then will we find out exactly if the ligament is torn, ' said Penttila. 'The most likely scenario would keep me on the sidelines until at least the end of the year.'
