Updated Saturday June 10, 2000 Spain's Salgado limps out of training
TEGELEN, Netherlands, June 10 (Reuters) - Spanish fullback Michel Salgado limped out of training on Saturday after suffering an ankle sprain in a practice match.
Spain's doctor Genaro Borras said the extent of the injury
was not yet known and a fuller examination was planned for
Sunday, but the player appears to be a major doubt for Spain's
opening Euro 2000 fixture against Norway on Tuesday.
'We're not ruling him out of the Norway game,' said
Borras. 'It's a case of waiting to see how the injury responds
to treatment.
'For the moment that will be painkillers and and ice
pack.'
Salgado was caught by Alfonso Perez midway through
Saturday's practice game and was clearly in pain as he was
helped from the field.
His absence from the Norway game would be a blow for coach
Jose Antonio Camacho as Salgado is one of his squad's most in-
form players.
The attacking right-back was outstanding in the latter half
of the season as he helped Real Madrid to their eighth European
Cup win.
