Katanec confident as Slovenia beat Saudis
By Andy Hooper

Slovenia coach Srecko Katanec was in bullish mood after his European Championship outsiders beat Saudi Arabia in Ljubljana on Saturday. 'We will be a big problem for all our opponents if we play as we did today,' he said after goals from Zlatko Zahovic and Milenko Acimovic gave Slovenia a 2-0 win in their last warm-up match before their Group C opener against Yugoslavia on June 13.

Slovenia may be rated at 125-1 for Euro 2000, but that holds little credence with Katanec: 'We proved that we have some classy players and a team full of real fighters. Now they only have to rest for two days and we are ready to fly to Holland without any worries.'

Zahovic had an easy job of scoring after benefitting from a dreadful mix-up in the Saudi defence in the 16th minute. The Olympiakos striker then threaded a diagonal pass for Acimovic to add the second almost immediately after coming on as a second-half substitute.

Slovenia: 12-Mladen Dabanovic (1-Marko Simeunovic 46); 5-Marinko Galic (6-Aleksander Knavs 46); 4-Darko Milanic; 3-Zeljko Milinovic; 13-Mladen Rudonja (20-Milan Osterc 72); 7-Dzoni Novak (14-Saso Gajser 75); 11-Miran Pavlin (21-Zoran Pavlovic 57); 8-Ales Ceh; 10-Zlatko Zahovic; 9-Saso Udovic (18-Milenko Acimovic 46); 17-Ermin Siljak (19-Amir Karic 46).

Saudia Arabia: 1-Tisir Al Antaif; 2-Mohamed Al Jahani; 3-Abdullah Sulaiman; 4-Saleh Al Saqri, 5-Marzouk Al Otaibi (Al Jaber 62); 6-Mohammed Al Shelhoub (Al Dossari 62); 7-Khamis Al Dossari (Mohamed Housani 75); 8-Abdullah Al Shahrani (Al Ghambi 66); 9-Al Hasan Al Yami (Al Meshal 62); 10-Ahmed Al Dossari; 11-Fousi Al Shehri.

Referee: Edo Trivkovic (Croatia).
