Updated Friday June 2, 2000 Barmby, Phillips and Wright get Malta nod By John Brewin
Everton midfielder Nick Barmby, Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips and Ipswich Town goalkeeper Richard Wright have been named by England manager Kevin Keegan in his team to face Malta in Valetta.
Phillips will partner captain Alan Shearer and Barmby has been given the troublesome left-midfield berth.
Barmby will line up alongside a midfield of Wise, Scholes and Beckham, while in defence Martin Keown partners Sol Campbell and Gary and Phil Neville line up at full-back.
Wright, fresh from his play-off success with his hometown club, will make his England debut.
