PRAGUE, June 1 (Reuters) - Czech Republic Under-21 midfielder Marek Jankulovski was named in coach Jozef Chovanec's Euro 2000 squad on Thursday.
Jankulovski, currently at the European Under-21 championship
finals in Slovakia, may replace playmaker Patrik Berger. The
Liverpool midfielder is suspended for the first two group D
matches against the Netherlands and France.
Striker Rene Wagner of Rapid Vienna, who failed to make the
the Czech 22 for Euro 96, was omitted again.
The four others to miss out were goalkeeper Radek Cerny,
midfielders Miroslav Baranek and Ivo Ulich, and striker Pavel
Verbir.
Half the squad who reached the final four years ago were
picked. Champions Sparta Prague field six players, the biggest club
contingent.
The Czechs will play their last warm-up match against
Germany in Nuremberg on Saturday.
