Ryan Giggs has been ruled out of Wales' trip to Portugal this week following a scan on a thigh injury.
The Manchester United winger damaged his leg during shooting practice as Wales prepared for their game against Brazil in Cardiff last Tuesday. Giggs watched the 3-0 defeat before returning to Old Trafford for treatment.
He travelled to watch the European Cup Final in Paris on Wednesday and then moved on to Monte Carlo, along with manager Sir Alex Ferguson and team-mate Ronny Johnsen, where the trio collected the World Team of the Year prize.
Giggs had the scan on Friday before Wales manager Mark Hughes was given the news.
Hughes said: 'I talked to United's doctor and he confirmed that the scan shows Ryan has a torn thigh muscle that will take three to four weeks to heal properly. I had hoped that the injury would turn out to be no more than muscle spasms.
'He did the damage right at the end of shooting practice last Sunday. We pulled him out of training immediately and tried to cheer him up by saying that it would be OK, but deep down I think he knew it was going to be a problem.'
Wales fly to Oporto on Wednesday to prepare for Friday's match in Chaves.
