Updated Friday May 26, 2000 Redknapp fears jinx may cost him again By Nigel Clarke
Jamie Redknapp will discover on Friday whether the hoodoo that has devastated his England career has struck again.
The Liverpool captain will see a specialist about the knee injury that threatens his place in Kevin Keegan's squad for the European Championship Finals next month.
It will be a bitter disappointment for Redknapp if he is forced to withdraw from a major championship for a third time. He pulled out of Euro 96 after one appearance because of injury, then missed the 1998 World Cup, again due to the ankle problem.
Keegan said: 'He felt his knee in training and is going to see the special-ist. We will be able to tell you more tomorrow.'
Tony Adams pulled out of training to rest his damaged back, while Steven Gerrard did not take part because he has a slight thigh problem.
Keegan will decide today whether Adams is needed to play at Wembley against Brazil on Saturday. He said: 'I don't need to play Tony to know what he can do.'
Andy Cole also plans to see a specialist about his toe injury and although Keegan does not think there will be a problem, the striker said: 'What I have to think about is the long term. It's not just Euro 2000. I have to consider Manchester United and the start of next season.'
