Russian squad for group decider

MOSCOW, Oct 1 (Reuters) - Russia coach Oleg Romantsev on Friday named his 18-man squad for a final Euro 200 group four qualifier against Ukraine on October 9.

He replaced veteran goalkeeper Stanislav Cherchesov, who had trouble getting his Austrian club Tirol Innsbruck to release him for national team duty, with Lokomotiv Moscow keeper Ruslan Nigmatullin.

Romantsev also decided to leave out Celta Vigo playmaker Alexander Mostovoi, who is regaining his form after off-season surgery on his groin, for the crucial home qualifier.

Ukraine lead the group on 19 points, one more than Russia and France, from nine matches. The French host fourth-placed Iceland, who have 15 points and an outside chance of qualifying for next year's finals.

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Alexander Filimonov (Spartak Moscow), Ruslan Nigmatullin (Lokomotiv Moscow)

Defenders: Dmitry Khlestov (Spartak Moscow), Viktor Onopko (Oviedo), Igor Yanovsky (Paris St Germain), Igor Chugainov and Yuri Drozdov (both Lokomotiv Moscow)

Midfielders: Dmitry Alenichev (AS Roma), Viktor Bulatov, Yegor Titov and Andrei Tikhonov (all Spartak Moscow), Alexei Smertin (Lokomotiv Moscow), Valery Karpin (Celta Vigo), Dmitry Khokhlov (PSV Eindhoven), Sergei Semak (CSKA Moscow)

Forwards: Alexander Shirko (Spartak Moscow), Vladimir Beschastnykh (Racing Santander), Alexander Panov (Zenit St Petersburg).
