Updated Tuesday August 8, 2000, 9:51 PM GMT Match Preview: Slovenia v Spain Preview | Half-time Report | Match Report | Match Stats Spain are maintaining a positive outlook despite losing their opening Euro 2000 match to Norway. Coach Jose Camacho has told his assistants to study matches in Group D from where their quarter-final opponents will come from if they qualify. Camacho, however, is demanding more spirit and a more positive approach from his side when they face Slovenia on Sunday. He is likely to ring the changes and bring in Abelardo, Gaizka Medieta and Alfonso for a game they cannot afford to lose. Mendieta said: "We need to move more quickly against opponents who rely on getting bodies behind the ball. "I am not worried about the lack of goals because they will come. In any case they will not play the same type of game as Norway." The Norwegian's direct approach ruffled Spain and enabled them to take the three points with a 1-0 win. "We have got to get the mental aspect right before we go out on the field," said full-back Michel Salgado. "We have already been beaten once so there is no margin for error. "I think our next two opponents will be easier to play against than Norway as they tend to leave a bit more space. "I don't think there is any reason for the Spanish team to change its playing style." Outsiders Slovenia were 3-0 ahead against Yugoslavia, but in the end had to settle for a draw. And Slovenia coach Srecko Katanec fears a Spanish backlash. He said: "They traditionally have problems when they start any competition." "But they have very good quality and nobody can convince me that Spain is no longer favourite just because they have been beaten."
