Crafted Italy's goal in the Final with an inch-perfect cross that eluded Desailly, Blanc and Barthez while arriving on the foot of Delvecchio. Outstanding... but not quite enough. Played against Holland as a sub and came on to score a penalty in the shoot out. Replaced Maldini against Romania and did not look out of place in Italy's defence. Pessotto had had a poor game against Turkey and was sustituted by his far more effective clubmate Iuliano. However, he retained his starting place against Sweden. The workhorse of the Juventus team, fetching and carrying and winning possession. Originally a Milan player but was rejected by them as a teenager. Since then, has consistantly proved them wrong. However, his chances to shine at Euro 2000 are likely to be limited to forays from the bench.
