A dominating force in the Italian midfield, di Biagio is powerful in the tackle and a good user of the ball.
Excellent at keeping the ball moving and breaking up opposition attacks, di Biagio started three of Italy's qualification matches but is likely to start Euro 2000 on the substitutes bench. Formerly with Lazio and Roma, he joined Marcello Lippi's Inter revolution last summer.
Scored a header when he started against Sweden and then came off the bench to replace Conte against Romania.
Buried the ghost of his penalty miss in France 98 with a superbly struck spot-kick in the semi-final shoot-out.
All of which set him up for a Final appearance that was impressive while he stayed on the pitch. Substituted midway through the second period after the Italian goal, there was nothing he could do as France bounced back to win.
