He may face a fight to claim a regular place, but Zenden is one of the most exciting players in the Dutch squad. An out-and-out winger, he has the skill and pace to trouble the best defences, but has fewer international caps to date than his talents might suggest. Joined the Catalan giants from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 1998 after representing his country in the World Cup and winning the Dutch player of the year award. Is also capable of filling in in attack and has a decent goalscoring record in club football. Looked very lively all match against Denmark and scored the third goal in Holland's 3-0 win. Seems to have cemented his place as left back ahead of Clarence Seedorf with sterling performances against Denmark and France - contributing some scintillating crosses from byline. Had a hand in most of the build up play and Yugoslavia could not contain him. He tried his hardest to get the Dutch going against Italy in the semis, but his industry eventually counted for nothing.
