Came of age as an international striker at the perfect time when scoring his first goal on his full debut against the Czech Republic in Germany's final warm-up match. An impressive performance.
An important member of the Bayern Munich side, but not a regular at international level, his physical presence would make him an ideal replacement for either Bierhoff or Kirsten should either pick up an injury.
Joined Bayern from Rapid Vienna in 1996 but does not score as often as he might, netting just nine times in the Bundesliga this season.
Started in place of the injured Bierhoff and looked dangerous. Manufactured a great scoring opportunity but blasted wide.
Didn't get much of a supply and looked unimaginative when he did get the ball.
