Finally made it to 100 caps in the opening match against Romania, but Haessler's inclusion in the squad comes as something of a surprise.
He made his debut as far back as 1988 against Finland and is one of the finest, most creative players ever to have played for the national side. Always a danger from set pieces, his stamina is not what it was, but he played a crucial role in guiding 1860 to fourth in the Bundesliga and a Champions League spot next season.
Played 45 minutes of the final warm-up game.
He will be a popular choice among fans unconvinced of the merits of the younger members of Ribbeck's squad.
Came on as a second-half sub and looked his age. Could be another making his final exit from the national side.
