Profile:

A prolific striker at club level, Trezeguet was an integral part of the Monaco side which ran away with the French championship this past season.

Lightning fast and a goalpoacher of the highest order, he is believed to have attracted the attentions of Manchester United and Arsenal but is expected to move to Serie A rather than the Premiership.

Scored a fine goal against Holland in the final Group D match.

Late sub against Portugal in the semi-final and played a part in the move which led to the match winning penalty.

But all his previous contributions pale beside his winning goal in the Final of Euro 2000. On for Djorkaeff, he took his one chance superbly - Toldo had no chance, and France had the victory.

Now he has to return to earth in time for the new season and a new club: he's just signed for Juventus, home of Zidane and... most of the Italy defence!
