Updated Thursday July 13, 2000, 10:03 PM GMT Emmanuel Petit
Played a composed game against Denmark and linked well with Deschamps and clubmate Viera, when he came on for Djorkaeff. The pony-tailed midfielder revived his international career by helping Arsenal to the Premiership and FA Cup double in 1997/98. He then completed a unique treble by scoring the clinching goal in France's 1998 World Cup Final triumph over Brazil. He made his international debut when only 19 in 1990 - and after a long time in the international wilderness he is once again a fixture in the national team. Strong in the tackle and an excellent passer of the ball, Petit started his career as a right-back but now excels in a central midfield role. He was substituted against the Czechs at half-time with an injury which kept him out until the semi-final. The injury told against Portugal and he did not look completely himself. Will be hoping he can be fit for the tournament.
