An outstanding leftback who who made his debut against Turkey in 1996 but has been unable to break into the starting 11 due to the continuing form of Bixente Lizarazu. Came on the scene after his move from small town side En Avant Guingamp to Serie A side Roma in 1997. Was part of the French World Cup team but only managed one appearance against Denmark. He has played three times during the Euro 2000 qualifiers and scored his first international goal against Andora in Paris. Doubtful he will make the first team and will be probably be used in his usual role as cover for Lizarazu. Replaced the injured Lizarazu in the warm-up against the Czechs. Troubled the Czech right. Also played against Holland.
