Club: Manchester United (England)

Profile:

Getting used to winning things as he prepares to start his Manchester United career, Barthez hardly put a foot wrong in the Final: Delvecchio's goal was always going to be impossible for a keeper to defend.

Solid as ever, he was largely untroubled by the Danes and the Czechs, except from a few early scares in both games.

All eyes on the new Manchester United keeper following his £7.8million transfer from Monaco - the first of many high-profile transfers involving stars of Euro 2000. He is likely to enjoy the attention.

France 98 brought superstar status for Barthez, and he is likely to be a key figure again as his country aim for an unprecedented double.

The shaven-headed keeper's unconventional approach is aided by great reflexes, and he is a commanding figure between the posts.

He conceded just two goals in France's World Cup finals campaign and also kept four clean sheets in his six Euro 2000 qualifying matches.

Solid, if a little eccentric against the Spanish. Made an instinctive save against Raul in the first half and guarded well against a dipping Guardiola free-kick. Again he got down well at the feet of Alfonso after Munitis had cut the ball back dangerously.

Marred his match with a poor challenge on Abelardo to give away an 88th minute penalty. His lack of celebration when Raul missed by a mile told a story.

And the other side of the clown prince of current keepers came halfway through the second half when he was fortunate to get away with a cheeky lob to Thuram as Munitis bore down on him. Lucky to get away with it.

Showed some rather clownish touches against Portugal where he ran out of the area on safari but he made a great save to deny Xavier in the last minute of the 90.
