Probably the quietest member of the England squad. Keegan has often remarked that even getting Scholes to say 'hello' is a major achievement! However, he does fulfil the perennial cliche of letting his football do the talking for him. Has the ability to ghost forward from an attacking midfield role into the penalty box and, as the song goes, he does indeed score goals - for both Manchester United and England. He hit a memorable hat-trick against Poland in Keegan's first match in charge, as well as an equally important double-strike against Scotland at Hampden Park but also blotted his copybook by being sent off against Sweden last June for two bookable offences. Always on the end of England's best chances against Portugal, but defensively lacking as Rui Costa and Pinto powered upfield to turn the game around. Made his characteristic runs into the box against Germany but went off with a knock. Keegan must be worried that the 'Ginger Prince' will miss the Romania game. Looked very lively and chipped the ball through for Michael Owen's goal against Romania. Was surprisingly substituted in the second-half.
