Profile:

Gronkjaer was thought not to be ready for his full debut in a major Championship finals, despite the fact he already has eight Danish caps.

However, is coming to form at exactly the right time, and could end the championships as one of Europe's bright new stars.

Has been in goalscoring form for Ajax this season and has made 24 appearances for the Under 21 team.

He started the first game of the tournament for Denmark against France. Despite the side slipping to a 3-0 defeat, Gronkjaer played well.

Played well until Holland scored the second of their three goals then seemed to lose interest along with most of the team.

Gave a creditable performance in Euro 2000.
