The 31-year-old Sheffield Wednesday keeper has returned to form to reclaim his regular national team spot. A great shot stopper but sometimes comes in for criticism for his ability to deal with crosses. Has seen off the challenges of Ladislav Maier and Jaroslav Blazek. Started his career at Banik Ostrava and later joined English side Newcastle United for £350,000 but lost his first team place and decided to return to Banik. With some great displays for Banick earned himself a place back in the Premiership with Sheffield Wednesday and has subsequently played himself into the Czech team. Never really troubled by the Dutch in the opener until De Boer's penalty. Gave a creditable performance but he will have been upset by the result. Was unlucky with opening goal against France as Henry's shot just squirmed under his right leg. Also had no chance with the second goal which was well placed. Had a fine Euro 2000.
