A hard working midfielder with no other significantly discernable qualities, Vanderhaeghe has made the holding midfielder's role his own in the past year. Creditable against Sweden without setting the world on fire.
Just being involved in the squad represents something of a major achievement because he has recovered from cancer.
Despite playing for unglamorous Excelsior Mouscron, he has established himself in Waseige's line-up, thanks to his no-nonsense hard work alongside Wilmots in midfield.
Is due to join Anderlecht next season.
