Born in Zagreb, Croatia, Strupar made a belated international debut last year after becoming a naturalised Belgian by marriage.
He scored five goals in his first five starts to become an instant hit and secure a place in Waseige's Euro2000 squad.
Was voted Belgian Player of the Year after hitting 18 goals for Genk in their 1998/99 championship season, and joined Jim Smith's Derby County for £3million in December 1999.
His main asset is his height and he has formed an excellent partnership with Emile Mpenza at international level. Replaced by the impressive Nilis the opening two games, he could do little as a substitute against Turkey.
