Leonard is one of the few players in the Belgian squad of true international class. Didn't impress against Sweden and was substituted.
His four seasons at Monaco have yielded two French championships (in 1997 and this season) and his left-foot packs a fair punch from distance. This has yielded crucial goals throughout his career.
His international appearances have been sporadic since his debut in 1995, but his pedigree on the European club stage is unquestionable and he should be expected to start for Belgium.
His temper has landed him in hot water, including a sending-off for insulting the linesman in April's controversial match in Marseille.
