Tuesday, May 1, 2001
Full-time: Peterhead 1 - 1 Elgin City
Soccernet.com

Peterhead kept their hopes of finishing fourth in the Third Division alive after coming from behind to earn a 1-1 home draw with bottom club Elgin.

The home side enjoyed the better of the first half and should have gone ahead when John Duffy had a header cleared off the line and then Ian Stewart volleyed against a post.

Elgin's best effort came from Steven Edwards' 22-yard shot which was comfortably held by goalkeeper Ivor Pirie.

The visitors made the better start of the second period and took the lead after 57 minutes when Ryan Green found space inside the box to fire home a powerful right-foot drive.

Elgin's David Hind was sent off after 75 minutes for dissent and Peterhead made their numerical advantage count 10 minutes later when Craig Yates headed home an Ian Murray cross.
