Elgin slumped to the bottom of the Third Division as East Fife came from behind to record a comfortable 3-1 win.
After a bright start, it took City just 10 minutes to open the scoring when Ryan Green scrambled the ball home from David Craig's corner.
But the lead was short-lived and East Fife were back on level terms two minutes later when Steve Kerrigan blasted home from 12 yards.
With their confidence high, the visitors pressed and took the lead when Lee Mair headed home after 24 minutes.
And eight minutes before the break the Fifers made the game safe when Elgin goalkeeper Martin Pirie brought down Kerrigan in the box and Chris Devine drilled home the spot-kick.
