  -   REPORTS   -   Third Division
Sunday, March 25, 2001
Full-time: Cowdenbeath 1 - 0 Elgin City
Soccernet.com

Skipper Craig Winter got Cowdenbeath out of jail and sent them back to the top of the Third Division with a last-minute goal to secure a 1-0 win against plucky Highlanders Elgin City.

The game was drifting towards a goalless conclusion when Winter latched on to a Graeme Brown cut-back and fired the ball high into the net from only eight yards out.

It was hard on the Highlanders, who defended resolutely under considerable second half pressure and goalkeeper Martin Pirie was certainly man of the match.

All City's chances came in the first half, with Colin Milne coming close twice, but in the second period it was the Elgin defenders who were being kept busy.
