Inverness Caledonian Thistle claimed a deserved 2-0 victory despite an inspired performance from Alloa goalkeeper Guido Van de Kamp.
Caley grabbed the initiative from the first whistle, and Dennis Wyness and Bobby Mann both came close within the first 20 minutes.
David Bagan and Wyness wasted two good chances to put the home side ahead before the break.
Thistle maintained the pressure in the second half, and their efforts were rewarded when Wyness capitalised on a blunder by Steven Thomson to put them ahead after 51 minutes.
Van de Kamp made two superb saves within the space of five minutes when he denied good efforts from Martin Bavidge and Kevin Byers.
Substitute Barry Robson put the result beyond doubt, skipping past two defenders after 86 minutes and firing into the net.
