Hamilton had to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to East Stirling after dominating the first half.
All the Accies had to show for their efforts in the opening period was a goal by Stuart Callaghan when he steered an Alan Russell cross into the net from 12 yards.
But East Stirling's Gregor McKechnie cashed in on slack defensive play six minutes after the break when he finished off a move after shots from Kevin Gordon and Graham McGhee had been charged down.
After 78 minutes, McKechnie struck again, lobbing a defender and then pouncing on the loose ball to put Shire 2-1 ahead after 68 minutes.
However, with 15 minutes to go, Michael Moore headed home an Allan Russell cross to level the scores.
Steve Hislop almost snatched a late winner for East Stirling when he raced through onto a McKechnie pass but fired the ball inches wide of the far post.
