Montrose striker Steve Laidlaw fired a superb hat-trick to give his side a shock 3-1 win at Division Three leaders Hamilton.

The home side had taken the lead when David McFarlane fired home from 12 yards after four minutes. Laidlaw equalised for Montrose five minutes later before scoring his second goal on the stroke of half-time. The Montrose forward completed his hat-trick four minutes after the restart, poking the ball home following a goalmouth scramble.

Hamilton pushed forward as the game progressed but Montrose held on for a deserved win.
