Full-time: Airdrie 3 - 0 Raith Rovers
Soccernet.com

Airdire broke their unwanted record of never beating Raith Rovers since moving to their new home by recording an impressive 3-0 win.

Once again it was David Fernandez who provided the killer touch which sent Steve Archibald's side on the road to victory.

He did so with a first goal on 24 minutes after Antonio Calderon had curled a pass into his path.

He rounded the goalkeeper, retained his balance and stroked the ball into the net to the joy of the home fans.

Kenny Black was booked for the visitors and could easily have had a second yellow after a late challenge on Brady.

The Diamonds started the second half impressively and Fernandez scored his own, and his side's, second on 49 minutes with a perfectly measured chip over Raith keeper Craig Coyle from 25 yards out.

There was a greater ease in the Diamonds' ranks with their two-goal cushion and they began to play a much more controlled game.

An inspired substitution by Archibald on 56 minutes saw David Maguire enter the fray.

Maguire waisted no time, netting the third goal with his first kick after Fabrice Moreau had cut the ball into his path.

The latter stages of the match were riddled with regular substitutions and stoppages, but it was Airdrie who always looked as if they had the match in their hands.

This fine performance sees Airdrie rise to their highest place in the league table this season in sixth spot.
