East Stirling ended their long winless run at home with a hard fought 1-0 victory against Elgin.
Top-scorer Steven Hislop got the game's only goal after 23 minutes and gave Shire their first home league win since April, a run of 12 games without a victory at Firs Park.
The game was as bad as the weather. A torrential downpour throughout led to a badly cut up pitch and that restricted any good football.
But that did not matter to Hislop, who turned up unmarked at the back post to slide Gregor McKechnie's cross into the net from point-blank range.
Elgin did all the pressing in the remaining hour but could only force Shire keeper Jim Butter into one meaningful save in the 79th minute when Grant Munro crept in a 20-yard drive, which Butter tipped round the post.
