Queen of the South produced a disciplined defensive performance to force a 1-1 draw against a determined Queens Park side.
The two goals came inside the opening 10 minutes but after that both sides struggled to fashion genuine openings.
Queen of the South broke the deadlock in the eighth minute when Stephen Skinner chipped over a cross from the right and Peter Weatherson headed into the net.
But a minute later Queens Park were level when a corner from the right was only cleared as far as Kevin Finlayson and he volleyed a first-time shot into the net from 30 yards.
Both keepers made some fine saves to deny the opposition forwards but in general both defences maintained a firm grip.
Weatherson was red-carded in the final minute after being booked for diving and then dissent.
