East Fife were singing in the rain after teenage sensation Stevie Ferguson grabbed the winner to sink Dumbarton 1-0.
The pacey hitman struck in the 24th minute when he stooped to head home Stewart Mackay's devilish free-kick.
Ferguson should have grabbed a second when he was sent clean through after 36 minutes but he panicked and shot wide.
Dumbarton's best chances came late on with Alec Grace forcing an excellent save from Will McCulloch after 71 minutes and Stevie Bonar later missing a sitter at the back post.
Damiano Agostini almost made it two but his looping half volley was brilliantly stopped by John Hillcoat.
