Division Three strugglers Montrose and Elgin City had to settle for a point each in a game in which all the excitement came after the break

The closest efforts in the first half came when Elgin's Ryan Green headed just over the bar and at the other end Stephen Marwick sent a curling shot just wide of the target.

The pace of play picked up in the second half and Elgin keeper Martin Pirie had to save well from Jonathan Mitchell.

But as Montrose poured forward in the closing stages Graeme Christie just missed with a superb overhead kick.

Elgin almost won it near the end when home keeper McGlynn made a superb save from Colin Milne.
