Peterhead emerged 1-0 victors against Elgin in the meeting of the Scottish League's newest members in a game that was largely forgettable for the most of the 850 souls who braved the bitterly cold conditions.
The only goal of the game came after ten minutes when Peterhead won a corner on the right.
Craig Cooper swung the ball towards the far post where Mark Simpson rose to power a header in from six yards.
Elgin's best chance of the game came early in the second half when a corner from the left was met by the head of David Ross but the big striker could only direct the header well over the top when it seemed easier to score.
