Stenhousemuir gave themselves some breathing space in Division Two when they dumped a plucky Forfar side 2-0 at Ochilview to leave the Angus side stranded at the foot of the table.
It was never one-way traffic though and the turning point arrived in the 25th minute when Forfar's Ian Ferguson was ordered off for foul and abusive language after his goal was disallowed.
The Warriors then went on to break the deadlock eight minutes from the break when Nicky Henderson crossed from the right and Isaac English rose 12 yards out to flash a header past Stuart Garden.
The visitors refused to lie down however and in the second period only the outstretched foot of home keeper Gary Gow prevented Andy Cargill finding the net in the 62nd minute, but Brian Fairley's men gradually regained the ascendancy and hit the killer second in the 78th minute.
Substitute Alan Blaikie turned inside a couple of defenders from the left and when he hit a right-foot shot keeper Garden did well to block.
The keeper though was left helpless when Scott Miller followed up to ram the rebound high into the net.
