Full-time: Dumbarton 0 - 1 Albion Rovers
Soccernet.com

Albion Rovers stretched their run of clean sheets to five as they denied Dumbarton their first home win of the season.

The Rovers were visitors on their own pitch against their ground-sharing rivals. And they got off to a perfect start with a goal after just two minutes.

Man-of-the-match Paul Shields blasted the ball beyond John Wight to put the Rovers ahead after good work by team-mate Colin Waldie, who took advantage of a slip by home defender Michael Dickie to create the chance for Shields.

Dumbarton battled back but poor finishing on a surface made slippery by torrential rain denied them a share of the points.

Waldie twice saved his side with goal-line clearances, first from Dave Stewart and later from Alex Grace.

Shields should have streched his tally, but missed two inviting chances, one at the end of each half.

Rovers' Chris Silvestro almost extended the visitors' lead when he brought a fine save out of Wight who pushed his free-kick over the crossbar, but Albion held on to secure the hard-fought victory.
