Full-time: Arbroath 2 - 0 Queen of the South
Soccernet.com

Arbroath's strike force put Queen of the South to the sword as the Lichties extended their unbeaten run to three matches.

They took the lead in 31 minutes when Steve Mallan headed home a Kevin Fotheringham corner kick.

Arbroath increased their lead with 17 minutes remaining when Colin McGlashan pounced on a loose ball and fired home a low shot from eight yards.

This was Arbroath's' third consecutive clean sheet and they have now taken seven points from a possible nine.

For new boss John Brownlie it was a satisfying start to his Gayfield managerial career.

The former Hibs striker was appointed on Friday and celebrated a victory in his first game in charge.
