Two late goals kept Cowdenbeath at the top of the Third Division table with a 4-2 win - and destroyed Dumbarton's hopes of a fighting draw.
The home side went in front from a well-struck Toby King shot only to lose their lead five minutes later when Mark Bradley equalised for the Blues.
After the break, Cowdenbeath suffered a double injury blow when Thomas Courts and Keith McCulloch were stretchered off in separate incidents.
Courts recovered, but McCulloch was taken to hospital in an ambulance for treatment to a head injury.
And his replacement James Lakie was booked less than a minute after he took the field for a foul on King.
Visitors' Craig Winter blasted them in front, but Andy Brown levelled with a powerful header to give the home fans hope.
But two goals in four minutes ended Dumbarton's dream. Keith Wright restored Cowdenbeath lead and with only two minutes left John Paul Burns blasted home number four to make victory secure.
