Montrose looked to have sealed the three points within 11 minutes of their clash with Dumbarton at Links Park but had to make do with a point as the Sons came back to draw 2-2.
Dumbarton started the game the brighter and nearly went ahead on just five minutes but Paddy Flannery's close-range header was somehow kept out by Montrose keeper Gary McGlynn.
But it was the home side who broke the deadlock in the 10th minute when Mike McKenzie harried the Dumbarton defence and eventually blasted home a 25-yard drive.
A minute later it was 2-0 when James McKellar broke on the left and passed inside for Jerry O'Driscoll to shoot home from 12 yards.
Dumbarton got back into it a minute from half-time when McGlynn dropped a high ball under pressure and Flannery slotted home from the edge of the box.
Andy Brown completed the Sons' comeback with the equaliser after 11 minutes of the second half.
