East Fife were made to pay for some wasteful finishing in front of goal when former Highland League side Elgin pulled off a smash and grab act to earn them their second point of the season thanks to a 1-1 draw.

Darren Wright gave the Methil side the lead on 15 minutes when he met Brian McCloy's header and nodded in at the back post.

East Fife dominated for long spells but failed to finish off a spirited Elgin side.

The league new-boys gained their just reward in 73 minutes when Mike Morrison rose unchallenged to firmly head home Connor Campbell's swerving free-kick for the equaliser.
