  -   REPORTS   -   Second Division
Saturday, September 9, 2000
Full-time: Queen's Park 0 - 1 Partick Thistle
Soccernet.com

Partick's Danny Lennon hit the only goal of the match to beat Queen's Park in the first meeting between the two sides for 18 years.

Paul McGrillen's corner fell kindly for the Thistle skipper and his shot flew beyond the helpless Colin Stewart after a slight deflection by Mark Gallagher.

After a dour start the match settled down into an entertaining affair with the visitors doing just enough to see off last year's Third Division champions.

Peter Lindau was a constant threat to the home defence and he set up Derek Lyle only to see Stewart fingertip the ball away.

At the other end Gallagher saw two great efforts come close either side of Lennon's strike, and only eight minutes from time Ryan Scobie's 20-yard shot cannoned back off the post to deny the home side a point.
