Alloa snatched an undeserved 1-1 draw from the jaws of defeat against an Airdrie side who played with 10 men for almost all of the second-half.
It was Airdrie who took the lead in 29 minutes when Antonio Calderon threaded a lovely through pass to Daniel Fernandez to score easily.
The second half saw Airdrie's luck run out though as two moments of controversy hampered their cause.
Javier Broto was red carded after being adjudged to have handled outside the box and then moments later, Airdrie suffered a second harsh decision when Alloa were awarded a highly dubious penalty which William Irvine converted.
Ten man Airdrie battled back, and restored their lead in the 58th minute when Jesus Sanjuan hammered a thundering free kick into the net from the edge of the area.
Despite their man advantage, Alloa could not get back in the game until a last minute volley from Chris Wood gave them a point they did not deserve.
