A glorious strike in the 30th-minute from Queen's Park's Kevin Finlayson gave the Spiders a 1-0 home victory against Queen of the South.
The visitors had a chance to take the lead in the 22nd minute but striker Peter Weatherson could only shake his head in dismay as he watched his 20-yard rocket being brilliantly saved by Queens Park keeper Colin Stewart.
Eight minutes later came the winner when Finlayson, who teased and tantalised the visitors' defence throughout, picked up the ball in midfield and ran some 15 yards before beating keeper Dave Mathieson all-ends-up with a clinical drive.
The Doonhamers refused to surrender, however, and were denied the equaliser on two occasions thanks to goal-line clearances from Queen's Park defenders Greg Miller and Scott Marshall.
Late on the visitors had further opportunities to increase their lead thanks to some individual skills from Finlayson and his wing partner Frankie Carroll.
Queen's Park coach John McCormick said after the match: "I felt basically we were well in control and they didn't really threaten us early on. We played some good one-touch stuff and I am delighted with today's win."
