Partick Thistle emerged 2-1 winners in a match against Stranraer that was an excellent advert for Second Division football.
Promotion-favourites Thistle had to pull out all the stops to better their brave visitors, who twice came close to grabbing a second equaliser late on.
In the 35th minute Thistle took the lead when Paul McGrillen hit an angled drive into the net with team-mate Martin Hardie claiming a marginal touch on the ball.
Four minutes into the second-half Stranraer drew level when Ian Harty left keeper Kenny Arthur helpless with a twenty-yard rocket.
Play raced from end to end, but Thistle grabbed a deserved winner in the 66th minute when Peter Lindau cracked the ball home from inside the box.
