Queens Park deservedly won this clash between two of last year's promoted sides.
It was a pretty evenly contested affair for most of the game but the Spiders took their chance when it arrived, something Forfar conspicuously failed to do.
The early chances went Forfar's way with Graham McCheyne and Andy Cargill both going close. At the other end Frankie Carroll just shaved the upright after a powerful run.
After the interval Queens Park looked more dangerous and they took the lead in the 70th minute after a defensive error by McCheyne. Carroll pounced on the loose ball and drilled a shot beneath Stuart Garden.
The home side should have levelled when Dennis Connaghan handled in the box three minutes later but Tully saw his spot-kick brilliantly saved by Stewart who dived to his right and pushed round the post.
