Clydebank's new player-manager Tommy Coyne celebrated his first game in charge by notching the only goal in the 1-0 win over Stenhousemuir.
But Coyne and the Bankies had to wait until 11minutes from time to break the deadlock when he rose to a Brian Hamilton cross from the right to head into the roof of the net.
Before that point chances for either side had been few and far between, although Coyne missed an opportunity on 15 minutes to open the scoring.
Stenhousemuir came close to sharing the points in the 42nd minute when an effort by Isaac English hit the outside of the post and rebounded into play for Martin Mooney, who lofted the ball over.
And then in the second period Paul McAneny also came close for Stenhousemuir with a 30-yard drive that was only inches wide.
